Join the Continental Divide Trail Alliance this summer and have a shared experience in nature or make volunteering on the CDT a family tradition as you camp, hike, and work as a team. In 2010, families with children ages 10 and above can join CDTA on the following projects:

El Malpais, #1 New Mexico, April 16-18
High Divide Jamboree, Montana, June 12-13
Autumn Creek, Montana, June 26
Two Medicine, Montana, July 16-18
Cruces Basin #1 New Mexico, August 27-29
Mangas Mtn #2 New Mexico, Sept. 10-12
Burro Mtn #2 New Mexico, Sept 17-19

Family Hike and Trail Maintenance 101, Berthoud Pass, Arapaho Roosevelt NF, CO, July 10, 2010

  • Enjoy a spectacular firsthand experience on The King of Trails on a interpretive hike from Berthoud Pass, a world-class trailhead rich in history.
  • This two mile interpretive hike will introduce families to the beauty of Colorado high alpine country.
  • Families will also have a unique chance to learn firsthand about trail design, forest monitoring methods, forestry tools and also spend a couple hours getting their hands dirty maintaining the CDT.

Other Youth and Family Activities on the CDT

Youth Corps Site Visits or Presentations
You and your family can take an opportunity to visit or also work alongside a CDTA Youth Corps Crew. Work alongside young people ages 17-25 to build new trail for the CDT and assist in the completion of the Trail. Or a CDTA Youth Corps Crew could make a fun and educational presentation to your school, organization or group.
